For ASM, my role was mostly to make sure the actors were on time to rehearsal, and to contact them if they weren’t, to make sure they were checked in, and to set the stage for act II during intermission. I also made some paperwork, mostly because I had some free time during rehearsals.
For A2, my job didn’t really start until tech week and performances. We had a unique set up during this show, as our orchestra was backstage. So my main role was to balance audio backstage so the conductor could hear the actors singing on stage. Having the orchestra backstage also meant that we had to have speakers, in our make-shift pit, which would easily cause feedback if not monitored closely. Besides that task, I also had to make sure that all of the actor’s mics were charged/had batteries, and if they died, I had to make sure to catch them before they went backstage.
Overall, a very good challenge, and I had a lot of fun doing it.
